Am I too old to start? (asking for my brother-in-law, 52)

Marcus Penhale·145d ago
Dragged my brother-in-law along to watch on Saturday and now he's asking if 52 is too old to learn. What do I tell him — other than yes, obviously, because he's my brother-in-law?

Our oldest learner started at 60 and now surfs more than I do. Tell him the sea doesn't check your birth certificate. Bring him to a Saturday session — we'll look after him.

Half the Tuesday crew are past fifty. He'll fit right in, and he'll be fitter than all of us within a year.

Started at 38 myself and assumed I'd missed the boat. The foamie doesn't care how old you are.

He's booked in for Saturday. This is either the best or worst thing I've ever done.
